Dartmouth Professor of Spanish

José Manuel del Pino is 'Dartmouth Professor of Spanish' at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. His field of specialization is the modern and contemporary literature and culture of Spain. He obtained his Licenciatura in Hispanic Philology from Universidad de Málaga in 1980 and his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1992. His main area of research is the avant-garde of the 1920s and 30s, and he has published the books Montajes y fragmentos: una aproximación a la narrativa española de van­guardia (Amsterdam-Atlanta, GA: Rodopi, 1995), and Del tren al aeroplano: ensayos sobre la vanguardia española. (Boulder, CO: Society of Spanish and Spanish American Studies, 2004).
