Alice E. Calder

Alice Calder is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Dartmouth Society of Fellows, affiliated with the Department of Economics. She is an applied microeconomist with research interests in political economy, economic history, and institutional and cultural economics. Her work seeks to take an interdisciplinary approach to these topics and understand the effect of policy, history, culture and society on people's economic decisions and outcomes. She is particularly interested in women's suffrage and political participation across the globe.

Originally from the UK, Alice earned her PhD in Economics from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, and an MA in Applied Economics from George Mason University, VA. She has also worked as a consultant for the World Bank focusing on women's economic empowerment across the Pacific region with a particular focus on island nations.
