Dana P Williams is the Benjamin P. Cheney Professor of Mathematics. He graduated from Cornell University in 1974 and received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1979 under Marc Rieffel. After six years at Texas A&M University he came to Dartmouth in 1985. He was vice Chair of the Mathematics Department under Ken Bogart and Jim Baumgartner, and served as Chair of the Department from 1998 to 2004 as well as 2013 to 2016. Dana is a functional analyst specializing in operator algebras associated to dynamical systems. He has written three graduate texts on the subject as well as over 75 research articles.
