Kimberly Rose Clark
Lecturer, Visiting Scholar
I lead the Cross-Departmental DIRECT Lab (Dartmouth Initiative for Research on Energy Communication Transformation) where my team and I focus on the intersection of decision neuroscience, political psychology, and sustainable energy and climate communications.
My current research examines how individual differences, particularly political ideology, shape the perception and impact of messages concerning energy and climate sustainability. By integrating psychological and neuroscientific methods, the DIRECT Lab seeks to generate actionable, evidence-based insights that can effectively bridge the critical "intention-action gap" in public engagement.
Before joining the faculty at Dartmouth's Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, I spent 25 years as the Co-founder and Chief Research Officer of Merchant Mechanics, a firm specializing in applied neuroscience and behavioral research. This extensive background provides a unique perspective, combining academic rigor with real-world expertise in consumer behavior and decision-making optimization.
I am passionate about translating complex psychological and neuroscientific findings into strategies that drive positive societal change in climate and energy policy.
