Qianxiong Yang

Qianxiong Yang is a Guarini Dean's Postdoctoral Fellow at Dartmouth College after receiving his PhD in Theater and Performance Studies from UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television in summer 2026. His research broadly concerns technoculture, especially on a transnational and comparative scale. His dissertation and current book project theorizes how technocultural formations at the intersection of computational media and biotechnology are shifting historically-sedimented structures of political subjectivity, agency, embodiment, gender, labor, and value in contemporary China and the US. He has additional research and teaching interests in visual culture (film, digital media, theatre, architecture, fashion), critical theory, and medical humanities, and has also collaborated on a dozen theater and film projects as an actor, playwright, director and makeup artist.
