Thomas A. L. Munro
Lecturer
Thomas Munro received his BA from Corpus Christi College, University of Oxford and his PhD in Classical Philology from Yale University. He specializes in the reception of the ancient world in modern literature. His current book project, Postimperial Classicisms, explores how contemporary Anglophone poets and playwrights have used classical myths and texts to grapple with the changing geopolitical role of the United Kingdom following the end of the British Empire. He is also interested in Roman poetry and its relationship to Roman imperialism, starting with Catullus, although other projects include chapters on Vergil's Eclogues, Ovid's Heroides, and Suetonius' De Grammaticis (an important source for the "neoteric" poets).
