Timothy Lim

This Summer term, Professor Lim will teach a course on Bible & Archaeology that will focus on the three sites of Khirbet Qumran, Herodian Jerusalem, and Masada. He is Professor of Hebrew Bible & Second Temple Judaism at the University of Edinburgh, UK.  He is co-editor (with Professor Vered Noam, Tel Aviv University, Israel) of The Oxford Commentary on the Dead Sea Scrolls (Oxford University Press). He has wide interests in the archaeology of the Levant, the religion of ancient Israel, early Judaism, origins of Christianity, and reception history of biblical texts. He previously held the Gitin Distinguished Professorship at the W. F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research (ASOR Jerusalem, 2018), and in 2022, his research was highlighted in a "Retrospective" in Ancient Jew Review.
